South Valley Civic Theatre announced its marvelous 2017-’18 production schedule at its annual membership meeting March 13.

The community theater company will start the season with the celebrated musical “Follies,” a story about a group of showgirls who reunite before their old theater is torn down. They sing and dance their old numbers, confronting past regrets and misplaced hopes. “Follies” runs Sept. 8 to Oct. 7, 2017.

SVCT will follow with “Act One,” the memoir of Moss Hart, a legend in playwriting, directing and writing lyrics for his Broadway productions. This memoir takes the road from his poor Bronx beginnings to his rise to a top Broadway celebrity. “Act One” will play Nov. 17 to Dec. 9, 2017.

For SVCT’s first play of 2018, it chose the teen musical “Thoroughly Modern Millie.” The show takes us to the fast-moving 1920s, where a girl from Kansas samples the thoroughly modern flapper life where she finds unexpected love and unexpected adventure. “Millie” plays Feb. 23 through March 17, 2018.

The children’s musical for the season will be “Annie,” a fun musical based upon the popular Harold Gray comic strip character Little Orphan Annie. We ride with an optimistic Annie and her dog, Sandy, in her search for her parents. Intertwined with adventures of an offbeat orphanage supervisor and a kind billionaire, it will keep everyone toe-tapping to “Tomorrow” and “It’s A Hard Knock Life.” You can catch ” Annie” April 20 through May 12, 2018.

The timeless musical comedy “Guys & Dolls” concludes the season with a story set in Times Square in the Great Depression era. Songs like “Luck Be a Lady Tonight,” and “If I Were A Bell” are two of the favorites in this award-winning show. “Guys & Dolls” plays June 15 through July 7, 2018.

Tickets are available at www.SCVT. org or by calling (408) 782-0008, or at the door the night of the performance (if available). Season tickets are now on sale.

Keep in mind there is one more production this season. Willy Wonka, the famous candy manufacturer, offers a contest to the people of his area with prizes too good to not to try to win in “Willy Wonka.”

The adventure thickens as the contest rolls on and you find yourself rooting for the polite Charlie and his likable grandfather. It plays June 23, through July 15, 2017.
