Downtown Morgan Hill saw streams of superheroes, ghouls, astronauts and other characters at the 2017 Safe Trick or Treat Halloween night. An estimated 4,000 children came for the two-hour event. Morgan Hill Life Publisher Marty Cheek played the annual role of “Phantom Costume Judge” in search for the best non-scary, home-made Halloween attire. The winning costume was inspired by the animated film “Ratatouille.” Left, Nick and Julienne Rasor were dressed as the chefs in the film and their 10-month-old son Sawyer wore a rat-chef costume made by his grandmother. “It’s his favorite Disney movie,” Julienne said. “And he’s a good size for a rat,” Nick added with a laugh. The costume won the family a Ladera Grill gift card, appropriate because the film is about a rat that wants to cook in a high-class restaurant. Cheek asked the Rasors if they were cooking masters. “No,” Nick said. “We’re probably the worst chefs.”
