Keeping in touch with all 560 member businesses of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce is something that takes a lot of time and is no small feat to accomplish. There are the regular ways of communicating: email, telephone, chamber events and Facebook messages. However, my preferred method of communication is the good old-fashioned way: conducting an in-person meeting and tour of each individual business facility.

This process allows me the opportunity to introduce myself to the staff and gain comprehensive knowledge of the companies’ expertise. A collection of notes from my most recent visits to chamber members is listed below. I hope you enjoy learning more about each of these local businesses as much as I did.

Busch Vacuum Pumps and Systems — The family-owned and operated business was started in Germany in 1963. The company started with vacuum packaging meats, sausage specifically, and now their technicians and engineers maintain vacuum systems throughout the world ranging from offshore oil exploration in the Arctic Sea to food packaging in Patagonia. The company has grown to more than 3,400 employees worldwide with 2,000 locations across the United States. Fun fact: Busch is a leading manufacturer of ice hockey sticks!

ChaseVP — This company was established in 1990 and has since acquired Village Printing (the reasoning behind the “VP”). They are a “Green Certified Printer” that utilizes soy ink, environmentally friendly chemicals and even provides a paper recycling service and individualized Environmental Benefits Statement to their customers. Promotional materials, digital and offset printing and mailing services can all be secured through ChaseVP.

Westmont of Morgan Hill — This senior community offers dual independent and assisted living services. The Compass Rose Memory Care Unit, also located on-site, cares for those patients affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia. The dining room and culinary chef prepare an impeccable array of breakfast, lunch and dinner menu options. Monthly resident events include cooking demonstrations, youth music concerts, fitness classes, field trips, arts and crafts and educational seminars. The possibilities are endless.

Stratford School — Did you know the school building was originally located downtown and is a certified “historical building?” In 2009 it was moved to its current location on Llagas Road and was renovated and unveiled as Stratford School of Morgan Hill. Children from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade are engrossed in curriculums focused on forming well rounded, open-minded and confident students. New Principle Melissa Sidebotham is excited to get Stratford involved in the community beginning with their free parenting workshops the second Tuesday of every month.
