The popular Indie Market is back for its second year and this season it is all crafters and artists, said Morgan Hill Downtown Association board member Nancy Reynolds, co-owner of The Candy Parlour. Enjoy this free-spirit market on the fourth Sunday of every month April through August from 1-5 p.m. on the sidewalks in the downtown corridor of Morgan Hill from First to Third streets.

This community-centric market place promotes, engages and empowers crafters, artists and artisans with home-based businesses to grow locally in Morgan Hill’s downtown,” she told us. “Indie Market also provides residents and visitors an additional reason to hang out downtown during all of this development.”

As our downtown evolves with a new parking garage and brand-new businesses, the MHDA is doing its part to consistently offer the same popular events as in prior years. The Indie Market was fun last year and it will be even better this year. Come out and meet talented people and pick up some unique handmade items for yourself and/or gifts for the special people in your life.

We have vendors from the local South County area and beyond bringing our shoppers wonderful hand crafted or hand altered items such as baby items, ceramics, jewelry, succulent gardens, home décor, bath and body products and pet accessories,” Reynolds said. “You will see that each of these vendors is passionate about their designs and it shows in the detail of their finished products. If you get a chance to talk with any of them you will see that they truly love community events and getting to know their shoppers too. We hope you will feel as lucky as we do to have them contribute to our community in this way.

Here are some comments from a few of the vendors:

Kim Kimmerly is one of our new vendors this year and she owns Kim’s Elegant Craft Closet-Wreaths & Hair Bow Holders

I love selling and promoting at craft events because people get to actually see my products and ask me questions and I get to meet some really interesting and new people! My crafts are unique and whimsical.”

Dee Wallace owns Deez Beads Designz and she, along with her son, attended all 5 markets last year and is committed to all 5 this year as well-Unique Custom Beaded Jewelry

I am a people watcher from the get go – love watching all the folks walking by, looking and maybe even buying something.  I spread joy through my jewelry and love to see the smiles on the faces of buyers when they are thrilled with the piece they have chosen.”

Jessica Sundberg is also a dedicated returning vendor from last year, attending all of our market dates in 2015 and 2016. She owns Uncorked & Charming. You can see Jessica at other events in town such as Morgan Hill Historical Society’s boutiques and the Morgan Hill Downtown Association’s Wine Stroll Market-Wine Cork Décor & Wine Glass Accessories

I love selling and promoting at markets because it gives me a chance to meet new people, network with other fellow crafters/artists, and be a part of the community. I love our town and this is a way for me to be involved and contribute to downtown community and ‘small town vibe’ we all love and cherish. My crafts are unique in that every item is hand made by me and I only use real wine corks.”

Patricia Beck is originally from Germany and she owns Fairy Dream Ceramics-Woodsy Themed Fairy Houses and Accessories

Clay is a wonderful material, I love how it smells and feels. I love to work with clay and I am amazed of the many different creations one can make out of clay. Ever since I was a little child I was enchanted by fairies and their world. Crafting for the friendly, playful fairies in our houses and gardens by creating these whimsical fairy houses gives me great pleasure. Each of my houses has its own personality and is unique in its own way. No wonder the fairies can’t wait to move in and start decorating!”

The Indie Market will have new artists each month so attend each one and see their amazing work.
