The organizers of the July 3 Street Dance want your opinion as to where to hold the annual concert that draws upwards of 2,000 people. For the past several years it’s been held at the Downtown Amphitheater at the Community and Cultural Center. Before that it was held for years at Third Street and Monterey Road. Now, if the organizers can make it happen, do you think it should be held along Monterey Road or at the Downtown Amphitheater? Take this short community survey and let them know what you think. Go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/XX5NSJG. Regardless of where it’s held, it’s always a great event that brings the community together.

The City Council recently decided to enact a six-month trial of the Complete Streets program that reduces Monterey Road through downtown to one lane in each direction. (Read the story on page 22). I’m looking forward to finding out if it works, and am hoping it does. Creating a more pedestrian- and bike-friendly downtown can only add to the vibrancy that has been growing the past few years. Getting the parking garage up and running then getting housing built downtown will create the dynamic downtown I think we’re all looking for.

The Morgan Hill Historical Society held an open house Nov. 12 to thank the donors who made the remodel of the kitchen at the Hiram Morgan Hill House a reality. The house was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season and shone brightly.
Members of the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill including President Peter Anderson with his wife Elena were in attendance along with Amy Whelan and Renee Spring who represented Morgan Hill Community Foundation.
David Domenicihini, whose construction company did the remodel, helped give tours of the new kitchen. Others in attendance were Mayor Steve Tate and his wife Jennifer. Claudia Rossi, incoming Santa Clara County Board of Education member, and Donna Ruebusch, incoming trustee on the Morgan Hill Unified School District board were also in attendance.
