• Join others in evening and Saturday morning walks. Meet at the Morgan Hill Shopping Center (Main and Hale avenues) for walks from 6 to 7 p.m. They also walk for 90 minutes Saturdays beginning at 9 a.m. The walks are at a moderate pace and include hills. Cookbook book club
• Beginning Jan. 11, a group is organizing a Cookbook Book Club from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 660 W. Main Ave. Each month will feature a different theme and participants can select a cookbook/recipe within the them and share it with the group. They are also planning a potluck-style sharing of the recipes each meeting.

Bingo benefits seniors
• Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. Kiwanis meet regularly
• The Morgan Hill Kiwanis Club meets at 7 p.m. at Mama Mia’s, 275 E. Dunne Ave. They are a service club that benefits children in Morgan Hill. For more information, call (408) 659-0350.

SV Woodworkers meet
• If you are a woodworker and would like to share your skills and experiences with fellow woodworkers you might enjoy the South Valley Woodworkers. Jan. 1
New Year’s Day hike
• Start the New Year right. Join local outdoor columnist Ron Erskine on his 6th annual New Years morning hike. The route is a four-mile hike along the Arrowhead Loop Trail at new Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve. The trail is perfect for all fitness levels and has fabulous views over the full length of Coyote Valley. Meet at 9 a.m. New Year’s morning at the Coyote Valley OSP staging area located at the end of Palm Avenue off of Santa Teresa Blvd., north of Morgan Hill. There is no day-use fee and dogs are not allowed.

New Year’s Day Bingo Marathon
• Two sessions of bingo hosted by the Live Oak Emerald Regime at Britton Auditorium, 80 W Central Ave. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. First session at 10 a.m., second session at 2 p.m. Catered lunch served to all players at 1 p.m. Drawings, door prizes and lots of flash so come join the fun. Jan. 4
Building a raised garden bed
• Learn how to build a raised bed for growing vegetables at 7 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Main Ave. Construction, soil, amendments, and composting will be discussed. Planting techniques and information on many vegetables will also be provided. Find out how easy it is to grow a successful garden in a raised bed. The course is presented by UCCE Master Gardener Glenn Lattig.

Jan. 11 to Feb. 26
Photography Exhibition
• The Morgan Hill Photography Club is presenting a photography exhibition at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. This exhibit, themed “Artistic Impressions,” features 56 photographs from 25 local photographers and includes images that convey the photographers’ personal impressions of photographic art. Jan. 16
Inclusive Playground community input
• Residents interested in helping develop the new Morgan Hill Inclusive Playground planned for Community Park are invited to share ideas at a meeting asking for input. Jan. 30
Sobrato band fundraiser
• The Sobrato Swing Marching Band will host a Goodwill Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sobrato High School parking lot, 401 Burnett Ave. Bring unwanted clothes, books, electronics, small appliances and exercise equipment. Help them fill the trailer to raise money for new instruments and additional uniforms. We cannot accept furniture or large appliances. No single item more than 50 pounds and no pet items. Event takes place rain or shine.

Feb. 13
Enjoy Valentine’s Day
• Attend the annual Chocolate and Wine for Valentine event from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community Center,. Enjoy the fine wines, chocolates, finger foods and items by local artisans. This Teachers Aid Coalition event benefits local public school teachers and students. Purchase $25 tickets at BookSmart, 80 E. Second St. and at 370 W. Dunne Ave #3.
