Cookbook book club
• Join the Cookbook Book Club from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 660 W. Main Ave. Each month will feature a different theme and participants can select a cookbook/recipe within the theme and share it with the group. They are also planning a potluck-style sharing of the recipes each meeting.

Bingo benefits seniors
• Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. Pruning deciduous fruit trees
• Learn the basics of pruning deciduous fruit trees from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the St. Louise Demonstration Garden, 9400 No Name Uno. Also learn how to promote good branching structure and encouraging new fruiting wood that results in a healthy tree that is easy to maintain in the long term. Canceled if rain and rescheduled for Jan. 30.

Oakwood School open house
• Come learn more about Morgan Hill’s independent, non-sectarian, college-preparatory school for students in preschool through 12th grade from 10 a.m. to noon at the school, 105 John Wilson Way. MH Values Youth
• This half-day event will connect youth, families and the community and help youth use the developmental assets effectively. The event is free and is for those 4 and older, parents, guardians and those working with youth in the community. Sobrato band fundraiser
• The Sobrato Swing Marching Band will host a Goodwill Fundraiser from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Sobrato High School parking lot, 401 Burnett Ave. Bring unwanted clothes, books, electronics, small appliances and exercise equipment. Help them fill the trailer to raise money for new instruments and additional uniforms. We cannot accept furniture or large appliances. No single item more than 50 pounds and no pet items. Event takes place rain or shine.

Wine tasting in the midst of history
• Looking for something deliciously fun and educational? Visit Villa Mira Monte’s regional wine tasting room at the historic Hiram Morgan Hill House, from noon to 4 p.m. 17860 Monterey Road. Paradise Valley Vineyard’s Cabernet and Merlot will be served for a tasting fee of $5 that applies to bottle purchase. Great Decisions
• Great Decision is America’s largest discussion program on world affairs and provides background information and policy options on the eight most critical issues facing America each year and serves as the focal text for discussion groups across the country. The first February discussion will focus on “Middle East Alliances,” the second “The rise of ISIS.” They take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Winter book sale
• Friends of the Morgan Hill Library Winter Book Sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Library, l660 W. Main Ave. All books are $1 or less, children’s books are .10 each. At 2 p.m. there is a bag sale. A bag of books is $5 with a library book bag, $4 if you bring your own standard size bag. There is a member only preview from 9 to 10 a.m. before the sale opens to the public and memberships are available at the door. Teachers and nonprofits may take books for free at the
end of the sale but must pre-register with Carol at (408) 782-9029.

Feb. 13
Enjoy Valentine’s Day
• Attend the annual Chocolate and Wine for Valentine event from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community Center. Enjoy the fine wines, chocolates, finger foods and items by local artisans. This Teachers Aid Coalition event benefits local public school teachers and students. Purchase $25 tickets at BookSmart, 80 E. Second St. and at 370 W. Dunne Ave #3.
