Friends of the library book sale
• Get a few books at the Friends of the Morgan Hill Library Summer Book Sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the library, 660 W. Main Ave. All books are $1 or less, children’s books 10 cents each. A bag sale will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. at $5 including reusable library bag or $4 if you bring your own ​bag. A members-only preview takes place from 9 to 10 a.m. Memberships ​are available at the door.

• Antique appraisals for up to three items per person by Steven Yvaska, takes place from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, June 28 at BookSmart, 80 E. 2nd St. Proceeds donated to Friends of the Morgan Hill Senior Center. Tips for applying to college
• No matter where you want to go to college there are always things you can do to improve your chances of admission. Grades, test scores, activities, even essays and interviews — they will cover all the college admissions elements at this seminar. They will also share college-wise strategies that will make for a stronger college applicant and make help avoid the most common application mistakes. The first seminar takes place fro 2 to 3 p.m. at the Gilroy Library, 350 W. 6th St. The second takes place from 6:45 to 8 p.m. at Gavilan College in Morgan Hill, 17060 Monterey St. Seating is limited and reservations are required. ‘The Producers’ and a taste of New York Jewish culture
• Congregation Emeth is partnering with the South Valley Civic Theatre for a production of “The Producers” that will include a sampling of New York deli nosh and multi-media historical displays tracing the Jewish role in the evolution of Broadway. The show begins at 2:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community Playhouse, 17835 Monterey Road. Tickets are $36 and can be purchased at www.emeth.net/producers. July 16 to 19
Circus coming to Morgan Hill
• A thrilling, all human show under a nostalgic big-top tent is coming to the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center. The Flynn Creek Circus’s acrobats, aerialists, equilibrists and more light up the stage in the charming old world tent this summer. The event, sponsored by Morgan Hill Youth Sports Alliance, will showcase top quality circus acts from throughout the world. Show times: 7:30 p.m. Thursday July 16; 7 p.m. Friday, July 17; 3 and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 18; and 1:30 and 4 p.m. Sunday, July 19. Doors open one hour before each show. Seating is general admission. Flynn Creek Circus is a rurally-based, award-winning circus bringing international talent to the smaller communities in Northern California and beyond. Summer picnic
• The Morgan Hill Historical Society will resume its annual community picnic this summer. This event will occur in conjunction with Morgan Hill Downtown Association’s new family event, “Staycation.” There will be food available for advance purchase (or you are welcome to bring your own picnic meal), a children’s activity and possibly square dancing. This is a fun, casual event where you can connect with community members while enjoying all the beauty of Villa Mira Monte on a nice summer day.

Aug. 7, 8, 14 and 15
‘Shakespeare Under the Stars’
• See the Bard’s comedy “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This classic tale featuring actors South Valley, will be presented at 8 p.m. on warm summer evenings in the Christopher High School amphitheater.
