• The Live Oak Emerald Regime holds bingo games at the Britton Middle School Auditorium, 80 W. Central Ave., to support band programs. Walking program
• Join others in a weekday evening and Saturday morning walks. Meet at the Morgan Hill Shopping Center (Main and Hale avenues) for one-hour walks from 6 to 7 p.m. They also meet and walk for 90 minutes Saturdays beginning at 9 a.m. The walks are at a moderate pace and include hills. Learn to play bridge
• Learn to play beginning bridge at a free series of nine classes covering introductory bidding and play. The classes are taught by Al Peponis, ACBL accredited instructor, director and club owner. The classes are Oct. 27; and Nov. 3, 10, 17 and 24, 2014.

Oct. 15
Distilled spirits tasting
• The Morgan Hill Community Foundation is hosting a distilled spirits tasting, food pairing and Q & A with Venus Spirits CEO and Founder Sean Venus. Tickets are $45 and proceeds benefit the Morgan Hill Community Foundation. Tickets can be purchased at www.morganhillcf.org. Venus Spirits is a Santa Cruz-based distiller creating hand-crafted, artisanal tequila, whiskey and gin. The fundraising event takes place at 6 p.m. at Rosy’s at the Beach, 17320 Monterey Road. The bar area starts promoting the brand at 5:30 p.m. and guests who have purchased tickets join Venus and the MHCF for the tasting/pairing in the back room.

Health topics for Latino youth to be discussed
• The Santa Clara County Bi-national Health Week Conference takes place from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. It is intended to foster an understanding of the special needs of Latino immigrants in order to develop effective intervention strategies to reduce and work toward eliminating Latino health inequalities. Autumn in Provence
• Saint Louise Regional Hospital is hosting a special event, “Autumn in Provence,” beginning at 4 p.m. at the Chiala Family Estate in Morgan Hill. The event also will be a “merci” to the Daughters of Charity for 125 years of compassionate service in Santa Clara County. A champagne reception with hors d’oeuvres precedes dinner by Chef Michael Miller. Throughout the evening, attendees will enjoy wine tasting sponsored by multiple wineries. There will be drawings, and a live auction, featuring something for everyone, including a trip to Paris. Wildlife Fest
• The Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center’s 19th Annual BBQ and Auction takes place from noon to 3 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Buddhist Community Center, 16450 Murphy Ave. The event helps the injured, sick and orphaned native wildlife in WERC’s care. Delicious barbecue with all the trimmings (wine, beer, sodas included); unique live and silent auction items, including raptor handling sessions, original artwork, handmade jewelry, gift baskets galore, and much more. Meet WERC’s educational hawk, falcons, owls, turkey vulture and acorn woodpecker. Attacking cancer before it develops
• Cancer can be defeated before it develops, which may prevent the need for chemotherapy and radiation treatments later on. Dr. Austin Jones is hosting the Cancer Killers Makeover, a free public workshop to teach people of all ages how to prepare their bodies to prevent and fight cancer naturally. Explore Coe backcountry
• Join naturalist and author Ron Erskine for a rare opportunity to visit the remote backcountry wilderness of Henry W. Coe State Park. Morgan Hill GET FIT
• The 8th annual Morgan Hill GET FIT is a 1.5 mile run/walk with obstacle challenges geared toward children 5 to 13. Parents and families are encouraged to participate with their children. This Family Fun Event will start and finish at the Community Park outside the Centennial Recreation Center. It will take place on a course that utilizes streets and the park surrounding the Centennial Recreation Center. All participants will receive a shirt and medal.
