Bingo benefits seniors
• Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. Oct. 31
Halloween Bingo
• The Live Oak Emerald Regime will be hosting a fun, themed bingo session with a free dauber to all players, candy, themed basket and other drawings, and prizes for most festive and best costume (no masks allowed for safety). There will be themed flash games and the “pumpkin” return. Adults only. Doors open at 4:15 p.m., games start at 5:45 p.m. at Britton Middle School, 80 W Central Ave.

Grand opening
• Music As Language will host a grand opening from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at their new studio, 17705 Hale Ave., Suite H1. The grand opening will include games, live entertainment from teachers and local celebrities (including Esha K. and Mark Fenichel), a morning trick-or-treat, and steep membership discounts for attendees who come dressed as their favorite musician. There will also be a raffle for a free month of membership and a basket-o-toys, among other items, with all proceeds going to El Toro Culture and Arts, a part of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation, a 501c3 tax exempt, public charity.

Nov. 1
March against Monsanto
• Join others to raise awareness about Genetically Modified Foods at noon at the corner of Monterey Road and W. Third Street. This is a march against GMOs, supporting farmer’s markets, local organic farmers, and promote awareness. This is a family event so please keep any posters clean. Donations are welcome. Nov. 6
BookSmart Art: Make a plate
• Morgan Hill Unified School District elementary schools have a holiday so bring your child downtown to BookSmart, 80 E. Second St., from 10 a.m. to noon, for a Make-a-Plate workshop. Children will decorate a circular sheet of special paper that will then be made into a melamine plate. These hand-designed plates make great gifts for the holidays. Your finished plate will be ready for pick-up in a few weeks. There is a fee of $15 per plate. Please RSVP to BookSmart at (408) 778-6467 to ensure space and supplies. Parent participation is requested for children 5 years and younger. Parents of older children are asked to stay in the store during the workshop. You may also drop-in if space and supplies are available. There will be another event Nov. 14.

Nov. 8
Veterans Day Run
• The Morgan Hill Freedom Fest will host its inaugural Veterans Day 5K Run and Walk to honor those who serve in the armed forces. Proceeds go to the Morgan Hill Freedom Fest and to veteran organizations listed at www.morganhillveteransdayrun.com/partners. The cost is $35, $40 after Nov. 2; $15 for children 11 and younger, $20 after Nov. 2; or $10 for veteran runners. The top male and female runners will earn a trophy and all runners receive a gift from the organizers. Winter fruit tree care
• Learn what you can do in winter to keep your deciduous fruit trees healthy from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Main Ave. Disease and insect pests will be discussed as well as control measures. Basics of winter pruning and tips on selecting new trees will also be covered. Enjoy growing your own delicious fruit.

Estate Planning and Medi-Cal Planning Seminars
• Join attorney Jim Ward for a 90-minute educational workshop, breaking down inheritance tax myths, inaccurate information regarding qualifying for Medi-Cal and the legal steps needed to protect assets with a sound living trust. • Community Solutions presents “Historias de Mi Madre IX: La Encrucijada – The Crossroads” at 6:30 p.m. at Gavilan College Theatre. This bilingual play illustrates the difficult choices non-documented survivors of intimate partner abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking encounter when seeking support and safety.
