• Cecelia’s Closet, a program under the Edward Boss Prado Foundation, will provide free clothing to families in need. No ID required and no questions asked. Flower Lovers meet

BookSmart Art
• Children are invited to participate in creative, hands-on arts and crafts in this workshop-style program from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at BookSmart, 1295 E. Dunne Ave. Children ages 2 to 12 will make hand-made gifts for Mother’s Day. The main project is a surprise and there will also be a station for making Mother’s Day cards. Learn to Meditate
•”Meditation in Everyday Life,” a workshop led by an American Buddhist monk, will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. John the Divine Church, 17740 Peak Ave. Suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators, it includes teachings and instruction in sitting and walking meditation and will be led by Ajahn Chandako, abbot of a New Zealand monastery. There is no charge; all teachings are offered on a donation basis. The event is sponsored by AAUW Morgan Hill. Benefit concert
• Bluer Than Blue, a Morgan Hill string band composed mostly of retirees, will play its fourth annual Reach Out concert from 7 to 9:30 at Advent Lutheran Church, 16870 Murphy Ave., Morgan Hill. Bring a can or two of beans or other food or a cash donation and hear some great gospel and other songs that reach deep into the group’s — and country’s — past.

Native plant all-stars
• Come hear Santa Clara County Master Gardener, Rebecca Schoenenberger discuss the care and growing conditions of “All-Star” native plants from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Library, 660 W. Main Ave. These plants are easy to grow, don’t need a lot of water, are pest/disease resistant and support native birds and insects. Coffee with a Cop
• Join officers from the Morgan Hill Police Department in an informal, neutral space to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee at 8:30 a.m. at Peet’s Coffee, 755 Cochrane Road. Pasta for a Purpose
• The Granada Theater presents Pasta for a Purpose, a fundraiser for the Live Oak Jazz Band, that takes place beginning at 6 p.m. A concert will play from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. The cost is $35 and tickets can be purchased at BookSmart, 1295 E. Compost giveaway
• Recology South Valley will be giving away compost at Morgan Hill Community Park in the parking lot across from the tennis courts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Compost giveaway is limited to 1/2 cubic yard (three 32 gallon cans) per Morgan Hill resident only. River cleanup day
• National River Clean-Up Day is an opportunity to be a part of the solution to local water pollution. Spend a morning working to improve the health of West Little Llagas and Edmundson creeks. Meet at the Morgan Hill Corporation Yard, 100 Edes Court at 9 a.m. and remove litter until noon. Gloves, bags and litter grabbers will be provided. Participants younger than 18 need to bring a volunteer waiver signed by a parent or guardian the morning of the event.
