• Join others in a weekday evening and Saturday morning walks. Meet at the Morgan Hill Shopping Center (Main and Hale avenues) for one-hour walks from 6 to 7 p.m. They also meet and walk for 90 minutes Saturdays beginning at 9 a.m. The walks are at a moderate pace and include hills. Bingo benefits bands
• The Live Oak Emerald Regime holds bingo games at the Britton Middle School Auditorium, 80 W. Central Ave., to support after-school band programs. • Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. LeTip meets weekly
• LeTip Morgan Hill is a group of local business people that meets for breakfast at 7 a.m. every Wednesday at Rosy’s at the Beach with the purpose of giving each other leads to increase their business and revenue. MH Fashion shows aids local charities
• The Ladies of Charity of Morgan Hill will hold its 5th Annual Fashion Show at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Refreshments and dessert will be served. Proceeds benefit local charities.

May 3
Cops & Robbers Ball
• The Community Law Enforcement Foundation presents the Cops & Robbers Ball from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. Proceeds benefit the Morgan Hill Police Department. Tickets are $95 per person and must be purchased in advance. Attire is black tie optional. Learn about composting
• Discover the benefits of gardening using your own compost. Join a free workshop taught by a Santa Clara County Master composter from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Centennial Recreation Center. Pre-registration is required. Please call (408) 918-4640 to register.

Garage sale benefits Relay for Life

Mental health first aid
• This one-day free course prepares residents to provide mental health first aid to those in need. It will be held at Advent Lutheran Church, 16870 Murphy Ave. The course is delivered by certified Mental Health First Aid USA instructors and provides the basic information to help deal with an emotional or mental crisis. Participants learn a 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis connect to professional care and are provided with resources to help someone with a mental health problem. Nordstrom Elementary’s 6th Annual Spring Auction
• The Great Gatsby Gala is Nordstrom Elementary School’s 6th Annal Spring Auction. The event includes dinner, dancing, silent and live auctions and casino and takes place from 6 to 11 p.m. at Coyote Creek Golf Club, 1 Coyote Creek Drive. Tickets are $65, VIP tickets are $125. May 5 to 10
Book fair at El Toro
• Stop by El Toro Elementary School to pick up a new book or two. The fair will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Between 10 a.m. and noon Saturday, May 10 enjoy a grand event featuring special readings and a gourmet food truck. All members of the community are welcome, but please sign in at the office if visiting during school hours.

May 5 – June 29
Photos on display
• The Morgan Hill Photography Club is presenting a photography exhibition at Villa Mira Monte, Morgan Hill House, 17860 Monterey Road. The exhibit, themed “Antiques,” features 30 photographs from 15 artists showcasing a wide variety of antiques, including sewing machines, children’s toys and vehicles. May 9
The Symphony and LOHS Jazz Band perform
• South Valley Symphony Orchestra and Live Oak High School Jazz Band will perform classical and jazz music in a free concert for students, parents and members of the community. A reception hosted by the Friends of South Valley Symphony and the Live Oak Band Boosters Club will be held prior to the performance at 6 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m. at the Sobrato High School auditorium, 401 Burnett Ave. For information, call (408) 427-7781.

May 10
Get free compost
• Recology South Valley will be giving away compost at Morgan Hill Community Park in the parking lot across from the tennis courts from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Morgan Hill residents may take up to three 32-gallon cans of compost (about ½ cubic yards). There’s a limited supply, so it’s first come first served. Remember to bring a shovel and container. For information, (408) 842-3358.

May 11
Mother’s Day breakfast
• Enjoy a Mother’s Day breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at Henry Coe State Park, 9000 E. Dunne Ave. Stroll to the picnic area and enjoy an old-fashioned chuck wagon breakfast with friends and family. Funds benefit the Pine Ridge Association in support of Henry W. Coe State Park. There is a parking fee of $8 per car ($7 senior rate if someone in the vehicle is 62 or older). May 16
Golf for farms
• The Santa Clara County Farm Bureau’s 19th Annual Golf Tournament takes place Friday, May 16 at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in Hollister. Join others for a game of golf and support your local farm bureau at the same time. Tickets are $195, per player, $780 per team or $980 per team plus a green sponsorship.
