As I sit on the park bench I watch little kids teeter on the edge of the duck pond and listen to the rotating wheels at the skate park and I think. I think of what this small-town dog park has done for our local dog owners. If we look deeply into the bonds created, it all started with a common love: dog ownership.

The relationship between man and beast can be stronger than any other relationship. Our dog is our buddy who does not judge us for who we are or how we look, but for how we treat them. Memories are created with dogs that give us happiness and drive. Some people are inspired by the animals who fill their life and others are devoted to fostering and caring for their animals.

The dog park gives dog owners and their canines an opportunity to leave their four walls and escape to the luscious green grass and the shade of towering trees.

A chance to meet new friends, human or canine. The bulletin out front allows dog owners to catch up on local events, business flyers and a chance to read up on current missing dogs.

One thing that I’ve noticed personally as a dog owner is the love for the animal. Not just a single dog, but the entire canine community. Wonderful volunteers maintain this park and keep it a safe place for our dogs to venture. This park gives our dogs the wonderful chance to exercise and become a well-rounded social animal.

Opportunities in Morgan Hill to meet our neighbors and enjoy our community have always been abundant. So the next time you have an itch to go outside and meet new people, grab your pooch and leash. Come and enjoy one of Morgan Hill’s crowning jewels.
