If you want to revamp your wardrobe but don’t feel like spending an arm and a leg at the mall, the Morgan Hill Library says, “Swap, don’t shop!”

Teenagers and adults with good quality clothes they never wear are encouraged to attend the Morgan Hill Library’s “clothing swap” event which will be held 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday Feb. 27.

“A clothing swap is a great way to get rid of something new or gently used that’s been taking up space in your closet and exchange it for something different,” said Hylary Locsin, an adult services librarian who is organizing the event. “People can participate by bringing their clothes to the library beforehand or on the day of the swap, checking out what we have between 1:00 and 2:30 PM, and then taking things home. You might find a treasure that you’ve been looking for or get the chance to try something you wouldn’t necessarily have picked up at the store.”

The swap doesn’t have to be an even exchange, such as if a person brings two items they can only take two things. But the library does ask that people bring at least one to two items of clothing, shoes or accessories to trade. The swap is for adult and teen clothing only and is 100 percent free of cost.

“Come in and bring your items, see what we have and take what looks good. We have a changing room for people to try things on, too,” Locsin said. “We are open to swapping any clothing, shoes or accessories that are in good condition…dresses, jackets, tops, pants, hats, purses – everything goes!”
