Get ready to get up and dance with a host of musical talent at our famous fungi festival.

The line-up for the main stage of the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras Festival May 23 and 24 is one of the strongest in the history of the event. From 10 a.m. on, bands will be performing non-stop with live acoustic music in between the acts while the bands are changing to make it smooth, seamless and a good reason to spend the day.

Foreverland will play the Mushroom Mardi Gras Saturday May 23.

Starting off on Saturday from 10 to 1:30 p.m. it’s RPM, noon to 1:30 p.m. classic rock from The Cocktail Monkeys, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. you enjoy a very special mix of top Bay Area musicians known as The Bay Area Allstars (should be some interesting surprise guest artists in this band). Headlining the main stage from 5 to 7 p.m., Foreverland pays tribute to Michael Jackson and are truly one of the most fun and entertaining bands I have seen on a festival stage.

Sunday kicks off from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with a throwback to the 1960s featuring vintage rockers Chubby’s Allstars. Following at noon, it’s The Shane Dwight Band. Then at 1:30 p.m. the scholarship awards will be given to local school students by Mardi Gras organizers. The music picks up again from 2 to 3:30 p.m. with Forejour and then at 4 to 6 p.m. Bay Area favorite horn band Sage return to the Downtown Amphitheater stage.

Remember to bring your most comfortable lawn chair and plenty of sunscreen for this weekend filled with non-stop music.

On another note: The line-up for the Friday Night Music Series June 5 through Aug. 28 will feature some of the bands from the Mushroom Mardi Gras and more. A special children’s act opening will be followed by some of the top acoustic acts in the area.

A preview of the line-up will be laid out in an upcoming edition of Morgan Hill Life. Stay tuned.
