Music in and around Morgan Hill seems to be expanding every day. As we move toward longer days and warmer nights, music becomes the glue to hold people in their seats longer at restaurants and it’s the music that keeps the winery patrons sticking around to drink more. For instance, Mama Mia’s Mediterranean Italian Cuisine on E. Dunne Avenue adds wonderful acoustic music every Thursday evening 6 to 9 p.m. to their already fabulous relaxing outdoor patio. The music happens on a weather-permitting basis every Thursday throughout the summer and it becomes an excellent place to meet friends, have a romantic dinner or stage a birthday party. The music is always top quality and fun and tipping the musicians is usually the thing to do!

88 Keys Piano Bar and Cafe is a wonderful restaurant where you can enjoy live music every day of the week plus their full bar, local wines and quality food making this a great spot to visit anytime.

They also offer an economical small plate menu and every Monday through Thursday feature a $10.88 dinner special and never a cover charge to hear live music.

Beginning June 8 and running most Wednesdays through the end of August, Guglielmo Winery throws a big free party called Vines & Vibes from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. They have a big dance floor, covered patio with lots of seating, a big stage, fantastic wines for sale and creative cuisine from local caterers as well as food trucks with specialty foods.

The first Wednesday June 8 kicks off with The Tsunami Band, The Hackjammers on June 22 , and Daze On The Green June 29.

For a full schedule and more details including other events such as Bottle Your Own and Ladies Night, visit their website www.guglielmowinery.com or watch for their display ads in this publication.

The Mushroom Mardi Gras is always a prime music mecca in and around downtown Morgan Hill with two stages of continuous music all day long 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday May 28 and 29. In addition to the music there is lots to do for the entire family, fun shopping and a huge selection of unique food to choose from.

Morgan Hill’s legendary Friday Night Music Series kicks off their 13 weeks of music and dancing on June 3 with the popular dance band Entourage. As a special feature during the intermission, Pop Elite, a group from a studio called Voice Academy in the Sacramento area, will be bringing on talented children who rehearse together weekly and perform at local events.

Each week throughout the series there will be an opening act of young local talented kids singing, dancing and playing music from Michelle Moyer’s music studio The Music In Motion.

There are also many local wineries that offer live music on weekends and I will touch on that as we get into the summer season.

On another note:
A wide range of bands come through GVA Cafe every week and one to see on June 18 is the rocking bluesy band know as LenCat. Four guys are led by Len Callo. They have more fun in one night then most people have all year! More on them in the next issue.
