GVA Café (Grinds, Vines, and Automobilia Café) has been pouring coffee and live music of all kinds. Located right in the heart of downtown Morgan Hill, GVA has become the hub of live music in town. You can find a wide variety of live music most nights of the week. In the month of April they have mish-mash of musical samplings including Woody the solo sax player, Family Karaoke Night, the monthly guitar circle (the first Tuesday of every month, bring your guitar and play along and learn new songs and dust off your old ones), Chris’ Acoustic Open Mic, live rock bands, live funk bands, country music, bluegrass and even hard rock. Owner Renee Carrillo will be celebrating a birthday on April 19 and the whole town is invited for cake and live music at 8 p.m. with harmonica-guitar duo Mark Fenny and Gilroy’s Blues/Jazz guitar master John Garcia. Should be a birthday to remember. You can get their entire monthly calendar at www.gvacafe.com

The Hill (formerly Champs) will be opening their doors early April (that’s now!) in downtown Morgan Hill after more than a couple of months of swinging the hammer, painting, cleaning and fixing. They plan to feature lots of live music, a brand new menu and, of course, their comfortable full bar. Stay tuned for more details in the next issue.

Trail Dust BBQ has been a hidden musical gem in the downtown music scene featuring live acoustic blues, roots and folk music every Friday night. In addition to pouring live music every Friday evening (usually between the hours of 6 to 8:30 p.m.), they are also pouring an exciting array of craft beers, local wines and delicious barbecue. It’s a great place for parents to expose their kids to live music.
