It is now official. The Festival of The Arts 2014 will entertain Morgan Hill during the month of August. FOTA will be comprised of three major concerts and other events scattered throughout downtown Morgan Hill with shows at the Downtown Amphitheater.
The event kicks off Aug. 2 from 1 to 4 p.m. with the Downtown Association Brew Crawl Pour Stop, followed by a live concert (artist to be announced). The concert is free with a Brew Crawl ticket.

It’s a day of live music with headliners Queensryche kicking off the first concert of their final tour from 2 to 10 p.m. Aug. 9. The line up brings us many hours of rock with Dammaj, Heaven Below, Circles of Sin, Mad Life, Skinner, Stone Leaf, & headliner Queensryche. The VIP section is already sold out, but there are lots of orchestra, mezzanine, and general admission seating available on-line at www.queensryche.eventbrite.com.

Music for Heroes, a benefit for families of fallen heroes, firefighters, and law enforcement, takes place Aug. 16. The gates open at 1 p.m. and the show begins at 2 p.m. with a screening of the Eddie Money music video “One More Soldier” with many surprise musical performers and a concert featuring Davey Pattison’s Gamma.

The Cancert will be here Aug. 30. This is a concert and canned food drive benefiting numerous causes and community non-profits. Headlining the show is Survivor (“Eye Of The Tiger”) also on the bill is Tommy Tutone (“8-6-7-5-3-0-9“) and local favorites The Gundacker Project with a special premiere of their music video “You Wont Take Us Down (Without A Fight).”

Every Wednesday in August (Aug. 6,13, 20 and 27) there will be a very special downtown After Party from 8 to 9:30 p.m. You will receive free admission with receipt of purchase from any downtown Morgan Hill merchant.

The entire month will be a massive musical experience produced and created by ARTTEC, the nonprofit company that provides hands-on experience to students in technical side of video and music productions Many students will be on hand to assist in the creation of these events.

On another note, 88 Keys Café has turned into the talk of the town as the new happening place to go for a fine unique dining experience, and live music. There is talk that the cafe might be expanding its live music schedule to cover every day of the week. They are currently doing live music and dinners Wednesday through Sunday. www.88keyscafe.com.
