The Lodge in Morgan Hill is a 138-unit senior housing community.
The South Valley has just opened a new site for high quality and affordable housing for senior citizens. Created by Buckingham Property Management, the Lodge at Morgan Hill is a pet-friendly facility that has amenities such as an on-site salon, patios on all its units, and free Wi-Fi Internet service for the entire community.
Morgan Hill Life recently asked Joe Britsch, the area manager for Buckingham Property Management, what will make The Lodge so special for seniors.
How did you start the The Lodge project and what would you say is the overall philosophy of the quality of living for seniors?
The Lodge at Morgan Hill is a 138-unit senior housing community coming to fruition after several years of dedicated teamwork. The project has evolved through many iterations of design improvements that began in 2012.
At the core, the project’s mission consisted of creating a life-enhancing community for seniors that reflect our values of the intelligent design, integration of sustainable building principles and a human-centered solution to affordable housing. The amenity-enriched project will encourage our residents to interact with one another, relax in an environment they call home, and thrive within their own holistic community.
What has been the overall response from seniors considering moving into The Lodge?
Now that The Lodge at Morgan Hill is open to the public, the response from everyone who has toured the site is that they have fallen in love with the design and all that The Lodge has to offer. We have beautifully designed and furnished models for everyone to tour and the site is now fully furnished.

What would you say are some of the amenities in The Lodge apartments that add to the quality of life for seniors?
The Lodge has many amenities that you will not find at other affordable senior housing complexes. We have a dining facility that will serve three meals a day, the facility is equipped with a large TV mounted over a beautiful fire place in the dining room, and there is a private dining room available for family events.
We also have two commercial barbecues on the back patio next to the bocce ball court, a large crafts room with another big screen TV, a reading room, a yoga studio and workout room, an on-site salon and a card room.
The Lodge will also be offering laundry service along with a few other optional services to make your life a little easier.
What are some of the social aspects of The Lodge that are beneficial in encouraging seniors to interact and build a friendly community?
The lodge is going to be a very social place. We have so many things set in place to bring everyone together as a community. With all of the crafts, cards, dining facility, yoga and outdoor areas, there is a lot to do and we will be having a lot of classes and events to bring everyone together. We will be scheduling an open house soon that will be catered by the dining facility staff and doing a lot of odds and ends out in the community as well.
How would you describe the overall architectural design of The Lodge?
The Lodge has a beautiful rustic look and feel. It is a warm, comfortable and inviting community with natural light and detailed wood work, stone and wonderful landscaping. The oak trees that surround the community have been left in a natural state and are back-lit in the evenings. It’s a beautiful and wonderful place to call home.
