A very special musical benefit for a very special person is coming to Morgan Hill Saturday March 8 at Troy’s Bocci Ball. Everyone seems to know someone that is either fighting a battle with cancer, winning, or has lost their battle with the disease.

Teresa Glover, bartender at the MH Tavern, has been there to support many others in the community raising funds for cancer research and other causes over the years. Now that she has been diagnosed with stage-three non-Hodgkins lymphoma, it is the communities’ turn to rally together to help Teresa win her personal battle.

The company behind this event is ARTTEC (Art Related Technical Training for Entertainment Careers) centered in Morgan Hill but spreading throughout the country. Its primary mission has been to give high school students a hands-on experience in the professional entertainment production world at a quality level.

ARTTEC will be producing the musical event featuring headliner Smash Mouth plus local musicians including The Gundacker Project, Mad Jack, Nate Castillo, myself with Scott Miller, an acoustic duo, and some additional surprise musical guests.

So you may be asking, how did they get Smash Mouth to step forward and volunteer to play this event? Lead singer Steve Harwell lost his son to leukemia and is friends with some of ARTTEC’s management. When first asked to participate, it was not even a second thought. He was eager to help from the early planning stages.

All the musicians will be donating their time and talent. Many businesses have donated great prizes and packages for the raffle and silent auction. Some unique items include hand-made furniture created by Steve Harwell made of musical pieces, custom made hats, autographed sports memorabilia including a jersey signed by the entire San Jose Sharks NHL team.

Betsy’s Restaurant is donating 25 percent of all their sales between 3 and 9 p.m. that day. South Valley Cab Company is giving 100 percent of all cab fares taking people home from the event.

Many other businesses have stepped up in support of this event with all proceeds to benefit Teresa’s ongoing medical expenses.
If you would like to support the event, tickets are just $5 and they are available in advance online at www.teresagloverfund.com.
