The food is hot, the fine wines are uncorked and goodies are arranged on tables. It’s a tempting sight that lures you back to the South Valley Wine Auction and Food Fest every year since 1999.

This party is a fun community event that started out as a fundraiser organized by local dentist Dr. Jon Hatakeyama to provide track uniforms for Live Oak High students. It quickly grew to become a big supporter of any needy athletic programs at Live Oak and Sobrato high schools as well as Martin Murphy and Britton middle schools — and occasionally our local elementary schools.
As a MHUSD parent and 94.5 KBAY radio personality, I’ve loved being part of the planning of this premiere food and wine event for the past 10 years — and your host.

Join me and undoubtedly other friendly, familiar faces Saturday March 22 at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center from 6-10 p.m.

You’ll enjoy tastings from at least 10 wineries and Morgan Hill’s best-loved restaurants as you bid on oodles of silent auction items. Then about 8 p.m., the mood transforms to the excitement of the exhilarating live auction. I share the stage with new auctioneer this year, Mark Turner, who’ll have you waving your auction paddle while you laugh at his flow of humorous remarks.
