Becoming unemployed at any time can be an uncomfortable stressful experience. Continuing to be unemployed during a supposed period of economic growth and hiring is downright frustrating. Work2future, a program located in Gilroy and Morgan Hill, is helping unemployed and under-employed people re-enter the workforce.

Work2future clients are eligible for enrollment in occupational skills training programs taught by local schools and employers. A wide range of subjects include accounting, business and computer applications, advanced manufacturing, all the way to truck driving and cosmetology.

A client completing one of these programs receives a nationally recognized industry-standard certification they can use to get into or advance in their chosen career field. Work2future pays for the tuition, supplies, and materials related to the course.

Work2future clients come from all walks of life. Many have significant amounts of education and experience in high-demand fields. Many held management and supervisory positions. Some clients were employers themselves. Unemployment may make them similar, but that’s where the comparisons end.

Work2future provides comprehensive employment related services depending upon the needs of the client. Clients are paired with a career coach and together they create a personalized employment plan based upon the client’s interests and career goals. Clients learn how to write a winning cover letter and resume using keywords that stand out with employer computerized screening processes.

Work2future clients improve their online presence by learning to create effective social media platforms including LinkedIn and Facebook. They also develop their soft skills through training on interviewing, networking, and dressing for success.

Work2future helps employers find talented workers by hosting specialized recruitments.

Unlike job fairs, where large numbers of employers and applicants are vying for each other’s attention, specialized recruitments provide small numbers of pre-screened employers and candidates with the best opportunity to talk to each other.
