Bingo benefits seniors
• Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. Curbside food drive
• Place nonperishable food items in plastic bags marked “Food Drive” for Recology South Valley’s Annual Curbside Food Drive. Place the bags next to the curb on the regularly scheduled garbage collection day. Food will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Meet the author
• Come to BookSmart, 80 E. Second St., at 3 p.m. and meet Eric Irivuzumugabe, the author of “My Father, Maker of the Trees: How I Survived the Rwandan Genocide.” In 1994, the 16-year-old climbed a cypress tree and stayed there for 15 days with little food or water. He survived the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda, which claimed the lives of more than one million people in just 100 days. In the midst of indescribable loss, and without a job, home, or education, he was determined to start a new life for himself and his two surviving brothers.
Hike that pie off
• The Open Space Authority’s Annual Hike Your Pie Off takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Coyote Valley Open Space Preserve, 550 Palm Ave., Morgan Hill. Take this four-mile hike along the Arrowhead Trail and burn off some of those Thanksgiving calories. The trail will lead to a ridge top with stunning views of Mount Hamilton, Mount Umunhum and the entire Coyote Valley. No need to register, just show up.
