Halloween afternoon brought thousands of trick-or-treaters to downtown Morgan Hill for the annual Safe Trick or Treat event. The candy poured into bags and plastic pumpkin buckets carried by children dressed as princesses, pirates, and many, many “Minions” from the movie “Despicable Me.” And walking among the crowds was Morgan Hill’s very own “Phantom Publisher” in a quest to find the best home-made costume warn by a child at the annual family-fun event.
The Phantom Publisher judged many excellent costumes as he roamed Monterey Road. Finally, just outside Morgan Hill Life’s office, he found the winner in 3-year-old Morgan Hill resident Adam Hart dressed as the hero robot “WALL-E” from the hit Pixar movie. His mom, Kathleen Ramirez, at right above, and grandma Chere Taylor took the child for the Oct. 31 adventure and both were excited when they found out that the WALL-E costume had won the family a gift certificate to Rosy’s at the Beach restaurant.
“It’s all cardboard cup, plates, old CDs, lots of paint, jewelry boxes,” said Taylor who created the costume. “It took a couple of nights to make.”
She even took a T-shirt and painted on it the face of WALL-E’s love interest, the female robot EVE.
“It’s a great movie and he loves the movie right now,” Taylor said.
