AARP Safe Driving Course

  • A refresher course for motorists 50 and older is taking place. Must call and register to get date and location. Participants will familiarize themselves with driver safety and new laws. No tests. Learn about the Coyote Depot

Winter Book Sale

  • All books are $1 or less at the Friends Winter Book sale; children’s books 10 cents each. The sale takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; a 2 p.m. bag sale for $4 per bag with own bag, $5 with library bag. Members only preview 9 to 10 a.m.; memberships available at the door. Coffee with the Mayor

  • The next Coffee with the Mayor will be from 10 to 1`1:30 a.m. at BookSmart, 1295 E. Dunne Ave., Suite 120. Mayor Steve Tate’s guest will be Community Services Director Chris Ghione. The mayor’s coffees are an opportunity to ask questions, give suggestions discuss issues or just listen to the conversation in a very relaxed, interactive environment.

Wine tasting while exploring history

  • Taste wine from Mann Cellars & Paradise Valley Vineyards from noon to 5 p.m. at the Hiram Morgan Hill House at Villa Mira Monte. Bring a picnic snack and buy a bottle and enjoy the ambiance. This is a great starting point for exploring history, regional wineries as well as shopping and dining in our quaint and charming downtown. Two wineries to taste from. There is a $5 tasting fee that applies at each winery, applies to bottle purchase.

Win a trip to national conference

  • The Morgan Hill branch of AAUW will send one young woman to the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders at the University of Maryland, May 30 to June 2, 2018. Women who attended a Morgan Hill school or lived in Morgan Hill during their school years and are now college sophomores or juniors are eligible. The award includes registration, meals and travel. Tour historic downtown Morgan Hill

  • Experience the rich history of the buildings in downtown from 10 a.m. to noon. Walk into the past and learn about the buildings and the characters who built, owned and operated them through the years. Tours are free, donations accepted. Meet at the Third Street Plaza.

Hands on Fruit Tree Grafting

  • Learn how to graft fruit trees from 10 a.m. to noon at the St. Louise Hospital Teaching and Demonstration Garden, 9400 No Name Uno. Discover the different types of grafting cuts and go home with scions to graft onto your own trees. Presented by UCCE Master Gardeners Glenn Lattig.

Learn about gray-water

  • Learn about the water-saving potential for common types of gray-water systems at a workshop from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Johnson Lumber, 520 Tennant Ave. #C. The workshop will cover costs, codes and regulations; plant-friendly soaps and products; irrigation hardware decisions and requirements; and how to qualify for the “$200 Graywater Laundry to Landscape Rebate Program.” To receive specific assistance with project ideas during the workshop, bring a simple drawing of your plan, photos of your laundry area and exterior wall nearest your clothes washer and a photo of landscape area to be irrigated with graywater.
