A Proposal to End the Polarization of our People
We receive a heritage. We leave a legacy.
If democracy is going to survive, we Americans must find a way to heal our nation of the increasing polarization that threatens our republic. The history of the 1960s suggests a solution. During that time of disorder and discord in the United States, Americans joined together in a daring endeavor set forth by President John F. Kennedy, to send men to the Moon and bring them back safely to the Earth by the end of that decade. Our nation needs leaders today who can inspire us to join together in a great endeavor — one that will surpass even the Apollo program.
Consider how humanity has a paradigm shift during the first journey to the Moon, a year and a half prior to the first landing. The three-man crew of Apollo 8 entered lunar orbit on Christmas Eve in 1968. As their spacecraft drifted over the desolate lunarscape, the astronauts took a photo of the Earth from their unique viewpoint. That photo is called “Earthrise.” The crew read to the people of our planet words from the book of Genesis describing the beauty of God’s creation. For the first time in human history, we saw our planet beyond borders. We saw Earth as our fragile and lovely home world. That Christmas Eve moonshot journey revealed a longing in the human spirit to protect and preserve our planet as a gift to future generations. The environmental movement was shortly after launched across our nation, bringing together people of all political ideologies on the first Earth Day in 1970.
Here in the year 2020, what if we Americans can achieve an even greater goal than what was accomplished with the Apollo program. It would be a goal that will bring an end to our polarization as a people by uniting us as we were once united by the excitement of a journey to the Moon. We can accomplish this by giving the greatest Christmas gift ever given in all of history: true global peace to all humanity by Christmas Eve in the year 2040. By that day, if we join now in this endeavor, we can free the world forever from the horrors of wars. Let us Americans join together to unite all people on our planet to strive for the most noble of goals — the successful pursuit of world peace — in the next 20 years. Life Media Group proposes a path to peace through a movement called “Vision-2020” where everyone is called to be a hero for humanity.
20 Golden Goals of Vision-2020
Imagine a different legacy for our children than the one we now are giving them:
A world where we protect and enhance the traditions of democracy in America and elsewhere;
A world where popular sovereignty is practiced by all people throughout our planet;
A world where all national economies are stable to achieve prosperity and the abundance of material blessings for all;
A world where we encourage the entrepreneurship of small and medium-sized businesses in a spirit of creative capitalism;
A world where we wean ourselves off our fossil fuel dependence and achieve the technological innovations needed to create millions of well-paying jobs through clean, environmentally sustainable energy industries;
A world where everyone serves as a good steward in caring for the environment and taking responsibility for the ecological health of our biosphere;
A world we use our intelligence and imagination to find effective ways to reverse global warming and thus reduce the impact of climate change on civilization by the end of this century;
A world where all people build connections with each other in activities that celebrate our humanity through the arts and entertainment;
A world where we transform education by creating learning-based technologies and techniques that are cost-efficient, personally enriching and fun;
A world where we make available effective tools to learn knowledge and skills for all people regardless of age, income, gender, race, or other factors;
A world where we protect and enhance the rights of the free press for the defense and enhancement of all our other rights under democratic governance;
A world where all people have the right to freedom of thought and intellectual openness;
A world where all individuals, regardless of gender, race, or creed, have diverse opportunities to grow as a true leader to serve the common good;
A world where women and men are treated fairly and equally in their jobs and careers, positions of authority, and elsewhere;
A world where all people have an opportunity to enjoy physical and mental health;
A world where we achieve a permanent peace for all nations by forever ending through a unity of humankind wars, terrorism and other violent conflict;
A world where for the first time in history all people on our planet are united in a new and true age of enlightenment as we strive to end homelessness, hunger and physical and psychological abuse;
A world where all people, regardless of origin or ethnicity, are treated with kindness, compassion, and empathy;
A world where all nations are united in the mutual pursuit of scientific knowledge for the benefit of humankind;
A world where all nations are united in the human exploration of space and the eventual colonization of other planets in our solar system.
