South Valley Civic Theatre presents a free filmed reading of the classic poem “The Night Before Christmas” that will be presented online through Dec. 25.

The theater group is closing six months of free online entertainment with an animated performance of the story poem by Clement Clarke Moore. It will feature Rob Christopher as Santa Claus.

Holiday artwork submitted by local children was included as background art for the credits, said SVCT board member Mary Beth Anderson.

“It is really cute to watch and has a cute backstory about our ‘Holly,’ Santa’s helper,” she said. “We at SVCT want the community to enjoy it and have their little ones watch it as often as possible and as much as they like. We need a little Christmas everywhere!”

Additional productions will start in January with “5 Quick Comedies,” a series of short one-act plays, each featuring different local actors.

There is a donate button included on the webpage. SVCT hopes families will enjoy the presentation on their laptops, iPads, and cellular devices as often as they like.
