‘The Producers’ and a taste of New York Jewish culture

Tips for applying to college
• No matter where you want to go to college there are always things you can do to improve your chances of admission. Grades, test scores, activities, even essays and interviews — will be covered at this seminar. They will also share college-wise strategies that will make for a stronger college applicant and make help avoid the most common application mistakes. The seminar takes place from 6:45 to 8 p.m. at Gavilan College in Morgan Hill, 17060 Monterey Road. Circus coming to Morgan Hill
• A thrilling, all human show under a nostalgic big-top tent is coming to the Morgan Hill Outdoor Sports Center. The Flynn Creek Circus’s acrobats, aerialists, equilibrists and more light up the stage. The event will showcase top quality circus acts from throughout the world. Summer picnic
• The Morgan Hill Historical Society will resume its annual Community Picnic from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This event will occur in conjunction with Morgan Hill Downtown Association’s new family event, Staycation. There will be food, wine, beer, soft drinks and ice cream available for purchase (or you are welcome to bring your own picnic), children’s activities, museum tours and square dancing with dance caller instructions every half-hour throughout the afternoon. This is a fun, casual event where you can connect with history while enjoying all the beauty of Villa Mira Monte on a nice summer day.

Drought workshop
• Johnson Garden Center is hosting a free drought workshop from 9 to 11 a.m. at the center, 520 Tennant Ave. It is presented by Ashley Carter (water conservation specialist) from the Santa Clara County Water District. Children’s clothes giveaway
• Saint Vincent de Paul Society of St. Catherine’s Church is holding a “Children’s Clothes Closet” free giveaway for children from Morgan Hill, Gilroy, San Martin and Coyote. New and gently used donated clothes and shoes will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Each child will pick several outfits until supply is exhausted. The Clothing Closet is located at 13570 Depot Street, San Martin. Donations (children’s clothing and cash/gift cards) are being accepted during business hours at St. Catherine’s parish office in Morgan Hill until July 20.
