For 13 years, Ken Williams has followed his passion for protecting people’s lives by offering them the best selection of options for their insurance needs. The local State Farm insurance agent recently moved his team to a new office at the Harvest Plaza Shopping Center. Morgan Hill Life recently asked Williams about his approach to helping his customers find the best ways to safeguard their financial future.
Why have you decided to conduct your business in Morgan Hill?
First and foremost, my wife Tressa Williams, who is also a State Farm agent, and I are proud residents of the growing city of Morgan Hill. With that being said, providing insurance and financial products that directly benefit the community that we live in seemed to be a great testimony to the dedication we share for the city of Morgan Hill, its community development and residents.
The Ken Williams State Farm Agency has developed a reputation for quality service in Morgan Hill. What makes you unique in your approach to helping your customers?
In addition to being able to stand by the excellent reputation of the State Farm brand, our clients have the advantage of having one agent and a dedicated team to offer them, their families and businesses with outstanding service. We provide “24-7” client service access and a bilingual staff. Clients also have the option of visiting and conducting business in our comfortably decorated office, or we are always happy to come to their home, office or place of business.
Besides health, life, auto and fire insurance, what other services does your State Farm office provide?
Many people do not know that in addition to outstanding individualized tailored insurance, State Farm offers banking services. These include traditional checking and savings accounts, credit cards, competitive rates on auto and mortgage loans, education, retirement and estate planning, annuities, mutual funds, CDs (certificates of deposit) and IRAs (individual retirement accounts).
What motivates your enthusiasm? What does it mean to be, as the State Farm commercials go, “a good neighbor?”
The State Farm mission statement sums it up best: We have a passion to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their dreams.
What would you say to someone who is skeptical or hesitant about needing insurance?
I think there is a misconception that insurance is an unnecessary expense. I believe individuals or families don’t realize or fully understand the value of insurance protection and financial planning. For example, many people believe that full-coverage auto insurance fully protects a loss when in fact gaps may be present. It is important for my team and me to convey to clients that insurance acts as protection and peace of mind. Our time to shine is on claim day. Anyone who has processed a claim can attest to the value of insurance when we are writing them a check to recover from a loss.
