The organizers of the July 3 Street Dance want your opinion as to where to hold the annual concert that draws upwards of 2,000 people. For the past several years it’s been held at the Downtown Amphitheater at the Community and Cultural Center. Before that it was held for years at Third Street and Monterey Road. Now, if the organizers can make it happen, do you think it should be held along Monterey Road or at the Downtown Amphitheater? Take this short community survey and let them know what you think. Go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/XX5NSJG. Regardless of where it’s held, it’s always a great event that brings the community together.

The City Council recently decided to enact a six-month trial of the Complete Streets program that reduces Monterey Road through downtown to one lane in each direction. (Read the story on page 22). I’m looking forward to finding out if it works, and am hoping it does. Creating a more pedestrian- and bike-friendly downtown can only add to the vibrancy that has been growing the past few years. Getting the parking garage up and running then getting housing built downtown will create the dynamic downtown I think we’re all looking for.

David Domenicihini, whose construction company did the remodel, helped give tours of the new kitchen. Others in attendance were Mayor Steve Tate and his wife Jennifer. Dreampower Horsemanship is selling $22 calendars of their therapy horses to help support their cause. Lori McIntosh has been photographing them for four years after collaborating with Martha McNeil. The 2015 calendar is unique as the horses visited the beach for the first time, went to Morgans Cove, Harvey Bear park and, of course, their home turf.
Go to PayPal and type in [email protected]. If you want it mailed it is an additional $5. In the PayPal notes, just indicate “2015 calendar.”
