The Poppy Jasper Film Festival announced its winners for its 12th annual award ceremony April 23, 2016.
The winners are:
Best Comedy: “The Things My Father Never Taught Me,” an Australian film written and directed by Burleigh Smith
Best Drama: “Thane of East County,” a film directed by Jesse Keller
Best Documentary: “A Struggle for Home: The Crimean Tatars,” a film produced and directed by Christina Paschyn
Best Foreign: “The Telegram Man,” an Australian film Directed and Produced by JAMES FRANCIS KHEHTIE
Best Music: “Nova-Amor-Cold”
Best Student: “The Elevator Diaries” by Trison Padron
Best Childrens Film: “Lift”
Triston Padron, the winner of the Best Student Film award shared with the audience how he accidentally got into film making when he got a new camera, played around with it last summer, and realized that the raw footage he took for fun could tell a great story.
