Perry Barrett Jr.

Longtime South County resident Perry Hilson Barrett Jr. passed peacefully at his home with his cherished wife of 57 years at his side Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the age of 81. Perry was a Naval Korean War veteran, an avid reader, and enjoyed working with his model trains.

He considered himself a true “foodie” as he loved to cook and share his recipes and dishes with family and friends. As a true history buff, he spent countless weekends as a docent at the San Juan Bautista Historical Park. He was a man of integrity and patriotism.

He was beloved by his wife, Suzanne, daughters, Tori (Steve) Cannon and Katie (Derek) Duffy, his sons Perry (Cheryl) Barrett and Ramsey (Kim) Barrett. A proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Jenny, Bobby, Trent, Garrett, Nicole, James, Morgan, Taelor and six great-grandchildren.

Also, surviving him are his sister, Diane Barkis, her husband, Terry and children Christopher, Liz and Fred of Norco.

Our family will be forever grateful for the tender care Perry received from Monica and Henry as well as the Gentiva Hospice team, Maria, Mary, Christina, Chris and Austin.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. May 19 at St. Mary’s Parish, Gilroy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the nonprofit in Perry’s remembrance: Plaza History Association c/o San Juan Bautista State Historic Park, PO Box 813, San Juan Bautista, CA 95054.
