The Morgan Hill Community Foundation, out of the proceeds of the South Valley Wine Auction, awarded three $1,000 scholarships to the Live Oak Athletic Department. The Live Oak Athletic Boosters were instrumental in creating this auction that when the baton was taken up by the Morgan Hill Community Foundation the commitment was made that $3,000 in scholarship funds would be presented to the athletic department.
This year’s recipients are: Grace Smith, who will attend Concordia University in Irvine where she has been recruited to play basketball. Smith was also part of the Emerald Regime from her freshman to her junior year. She will study business management.
Cameron O’Connell will attend San Diego State University where she will be majoring in mechanical engineering. At Live Oak she played basketball and golf. Her passion is Art Your Heart Out, where she did philanthropic work in the community utilizing her drawing and other artistic talents.
Kai Hsong-Chi Leong will attend Berkeley and study civil engineering, following in his father’s footsteps. He has been swimming since he was 7. He swam and played water polo.
“We are thrilled we were able to help these students fulfill their dreams and send them on their way with a small token of our appreciation for what they have done for our community. I would also like to thank all who came out to make the South Valley Wine Auction a huge success. Your support makes this possible,” said Pamala Meador, president of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation.
