I am running for the Morgan Hill Unified School Board Trustee (Area 2), because I have the skills, experience and desire to make a greater contribution to the welfare and stability of my community. I am committed to making my presence available and accessible for teachers and students of MHUSD.

It is important to have a seat at the table where policy and financial decisions are made that will shape the course of our schools. The work is crucial and meaningful and requires thoughtful leaders who have the political courage to make tough decisions. I will never be afraid to make those tough decisions, especially when it concerns the welfare of the teachers and students.

I have a doctorate degree in education from the University of San Francisco and 14 years as a realtor broker in South County. My experience as an educator teaching at San Jose State University, West Valley College, De Anza College, Mission College, and the Employment Development Department has made me sensitive to the plight of our teachers.

I am a volunteer of Santa Clara County Association of Realtors and a director for the Santa Clara Association of Realtors Foundation and the California Association of Realtors. Various volunteer committee positions have prepared me for the work that is ahead of the Morgan Hill Unified School District.

Our children’s future depends on our choices now. These choices must be fiscally responsible, guided by forward thinking and competent teachers that need a support system to develop well rounded and motivated students. The choices are not easy, and we need defining answers to these important questions: compensation and resources for teachers, an environment and curriculum that enables our students to engage in their learning, and fiscal responsibility.

The position of trustee is demanding and rewarding, and I look forward to the challenges that will present themselves in the next four years.
