As a longtime and dedicated volunteer with the Morgan Hill Unified School District, I am passionate about helping our schools achieve excellence. I believe all students deserve access to a high-quality, rigorous education.
I am a parent of two current MHUSD students and a college freshman. As my children have progressed through the school system, I have volunteered. I have served on the executive board of Home & School Clubs for nearly a decade, including: five years as the H&SC president at Nordstrom Elementary School, and two years as president at Martin Murphy and Sobrato, concurrently. While a parent at these same schools, I participated as a member of their school site councils and have held leadership positions as well.
I have also advocated for students and parents while serving on many district committees. I was a diligent member of the District Advisory Committee and Middle School Reconfiguration and Boundary Committees. As a school leader, I participated in workshops to help identify priorities for the creation of our district’s initial Local Control Accountability Plan. Through all of this work, I developed knowledge and understanding of key policies and programs and recognized the importance of fiscal responsibility, transparency, collaboration and effective governance.
I am ready to take my experience and dedication and apply it as a trustee, and provide another perspective as a parent. This voice and representation is important because we are directly impacted by the board’s decisions. If elected, I will focus my efforts on: ensuring equitable support for all students and school sites; attracting and retaining highly-qualified teachers; building partnerships; advocating for transparency and fiscal responsibility; and promoting and encouraging parent participation.
I am committed to working with all stakeholders to support our schools as they strive to provide an exceptional education that will enable students to succeed in college, careers and life. I respectfully ask for your vote.
