Raincoats and Rubber Boots, SVS and Gavilan’s annual Back to Blues
By Staff Report
From a hike for children along Coyote Creek to fun concerts at Gavilan College, local parents have plenty of options in the month of March for family outings with their children.
The Pine Ridge Association hosts a fun day that includes a scavenger hunt along the creek at Henry W. Coe State Park’s Hunting Hollow entrance March 7 at the annual Raincoats and Rubber Boots event that takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
And enjoy the boats and rubber ducky races as well. There will also be a mountain bike clinic and a challenging course for children to ride through if it isn’t too wet.
Loaner bikes and helmets will be available if you don’t have them. Learn from experienced mountain bikers how to navigate obstacles you will find on the trail. Bring your own lunch or snacks.
There is a $6 parking fee per vehicle. For more information contact Chere Bargar [email protected].
The South Valley Symphony continues its Spirit of Music concert series with the NextGen 2020 show held 7:30 p.m. March 7, at the Gavilan College Theater, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd., in Gilroy.
The orchestra will share the stage with talented young musicians and premiere “Ozian Symphony,” a piece based on Gregory Maguire’s novel “Wicked” and composed by Sobrato High School graduate Christopher Niemann.
The winners of the 12th Navaroli Young Musicians Competition will perform at the concert as well. They are Sanjay Gollapudi, playing Bach’s “Romanze” on the viola; and Issabella Romo, playing Pergolesi’s “Concerto in G Major” on the flute.
