I wanted to share a special visit I had recently to Pono Wellness. Just stepping inside, the inviting fragrance, relaxing music, and Hawaiian décor drops your blood pressure 10 points in minutes.

Hawaiian terms can have different meanings. Pono’s is harmony, wellness and balance, integrity, ancestral, present and future. Pono owner Bonni Kelley, owner, shared their goal of facilitating that essence  with a trifecta of sauna, soaking and massage. She made a point of how we maintain our vehicles with oil and tire changes but often neglect to maintain our bodies. That’s how Pono Wellness came to be.

Bonni loves Morgan Hill. With all of life’s daily stresses and strains, it means so much that she brought this service to downtown four years ago. What makes it so special is attention to detail. Whatever your individual needs, Pono’s massage therapists are trained in too many styles and modalities to list. Services are a-la-carte, but you’re missing out if not customizing the experience with a sauna and/or soak and then massage.

Many clients have found their own way to Pono Wellness, and they get many referrals from naturopaths and holistic practitioners. They also enrich pre-wedding events, baby showers and birthdays.

The facility features two state-of-the-art infrared saunas to detox, relax and reduce inflammation. One indoors and one out in the well-appointed lanai. These heat your body and not the air, so opening pores during a 60-minute visit is more comfortable than the old-style sauna most people are accustomed to.

Two air jet soaking tubs allow for ultimate sanitation between use, and you don’t share with anyone. Sea salts of Hawaii are some of the cleanest in the world. Pono uses this salt base to pull impurities from the body. They will also be launching a CBD soak.

Once your body is calm and at peace from the sauna/soak, visit one of the four massage treatment rooms; one set up for couples. Following therapy, sit back and close your eyes in the relaxation room or beautiful lanai filled with tropical plants. Then before returning to the real world, three showers with toiletries, towels, robes and a locker room are at your disposal.

Pono has retail as well. It’s like taking a gift home from the islands. They carry Hawaiian-based body care and candles, three different CBD lines both topical and ingestible, and both DoTerra and Youngs Living Essential oils.

So, think about taking the time to take care of yourself, significant other, or someone special, and make an appointment for an unforgettable body and spirit experience. Mention this column and Pono Wellness will treat to $10 off your first service.

Pono follows health care facility guidelines. Until next time — wishing you the best of health and wellness.
