Morgan Hill City Council Candidate John McKay

John McKay

I love Morgan Hill. I love the sights, recreation opportunities, the people, the downtown – simply the feel of our rural little town.

I know Morgan Hill is not perfect, some will sing nothing but high praise for our city and some see nothing good. Maybe our city isn’t perfect but it’s very very good. Our future is incredibly bright and we will work on the many obstacles together to assure the brightest possible future.

A lot has been going on and there’s more to work on, this is what I’ve been doing:

  • I will continue to fight for local residential development control at the state level. The State took away our ability to control residential development. We were prepared, the development we can control will retain important aesthetic standards we created.
  • I helped manage over 50 local Covid-19 vaccination clinics putting approximately 20,000 shots in arms while the state and county floundered.
  • I helped make sure the Meals for Heroes program fed overworked hospital staff during the pandemic which also helped local business. The pandemic hit us hard but we fared far better than most communities.
  • I helped create ordinances which protect our interests in reducing development impacts even the most skeptical have stated works better than they proposed. We are finally attracting industrial businesses which we need for jobs and city revenues and they should be the right fit.
  • We’ve endured wildland fires which highlighted our great communications. Thank you community.
  • I am listening to the disadvantaged in our community so everyone will be heard.
  • I’m working with a State Senator to make sure we won’t lose broadband service in the future.

The last few years have provided our community with unprecedented challenges. I feel I’ve stepped up and met them all with our mighty city staff.
