Morgan Hill Unified School District Candidate Dennis P. Delisle
As a 46-year resident of Morgan Hill, I have served my community in many capacities including as a member of the South County Planning Advisory Committee. When my two children graduated from Live Oak High School 25 years ago, I was satisfied with the education they received.
Now, according to the Public School Review, only 39% of students in Morgan Hill Unified score at or above grade level proficiency in math and 49% in reading. I am running to serve on the Governing Board of Morgan Hill School District because our children deserve better. This is not about school funding. This is about school focus. Student proficiency in reading, math and language must be our focus.
The role of a School Board member is to represent the values of the community. I believe those values include a school district that is transparent and respects the rights of parents. Parents should be made aware of what is being taught and have an opportunity to opt-out their child from any specific curriculum that deviates from their family values.
As a school board member, I will be an advocate for parents and children.
