Morgan Hill Unified School District Candidate Terri Eves Knudsen
I am running for the Morgan Hill School Board because I’m passionate about helping all students succeed. My experience as a parent, volunteer, and employee of the school district for 25 years and my dedication to public schools makes me an excellent candidate. As a board trustee, I will advocate for increased parent and teacher input in the decision-making process, expanded collaboration between educators and the community, and a budget that prioritizes students and classroom resources. Many students need additional assistance to succeed, and I will work to identify and provide needed support.
As a parent of two children who attended and graduated from our schools, I volunteered in Home and School Clubs, and raised money for schools. As a member of School Site Councils, I approved school plans and budgets, and have extensive knowledge of how schools function.
I worked at Walsh and Britton Middle School as a library clerk. After obtaining my Master’s in Library Science and Teaching Credential, I have served as the Librarian at Britton, Live Oak, and Sobrato schools. I collaborated on curriculum adoptions, textbook reviews, mandatory assessments, AP testing, and graduation requirements. As treasurer for the Federation of Teachers, I created and managed annual budgets. I also regularly attended school board meetings and participated in the district’s budgeting process. My varied experience allows me to understand how board policies can affect our schools and students.
Our community has many reasons to be proud of our schools: focus academies, dedicated teachers, family engagement, and wellness centers. I will assist our schools in the ongoing challenges of school climate and safety, student engagement, and equity/access for all to a rigorous academic program. I care deeply about our public schools and I’m excited for the opportunity to serve our community. Website: TerriKnudsen.com.
