Wendy Sullivan

For the past 14 years, I’ve been a dedicated district parent supporting our school communities (students, teachers and staff) in almost every way possible, including leading Home and School Clubs and serving on School Site Councils at the elementary, middle and high school levels, and then being elected to the Board of Education in 2018. My work as a trustee has been focused on finding ways to strengthen and enhance our educational system, even through a pandemic and Superintendent transition.

Fortunately, our District is now able to: increase student counseling; provide greater social-emotional supports for students; offer more CTE and AP courses in high school (even for Freshmen); provide art, music and physical education instruction for all elementary school students; create, for the first time, daily prep/planning periods for elementary school teachers; increase and align instructional minutes across all elementary schools; and institute consistent bell schedules districtwide. All of this, while giving a 7.5% raise to all employees last year.

At a regional level, I also serve as: Vice President of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association, Director for the Asian Pacific Islander School Board Members Association, and Delegate for the California School Boards Association’s Delegate Assembly.

I have been a champion for students and an advocate for parents and families.  Looking forward, I’m excited to continue improving the total educational experience for all of our students.  We have started the process for transforming our district and I’m motivated to build on this momentum.  I’m committed to putting the “U” back in Unified, and putting students first.  If re-elected, I will continue to do everything that I can to enhance the education of each and every student, every single day.  I humbly and respectfully ask for your vote.
