Learn About Scouts

Line Dancing

Join Rotary

There is a $15 charge if you wish to purchase lunch but there is no charge to visit. San Martin Lions Club
• Play Bingo and help raise funds for the San Martin Lions Club, 12415 Murphy Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m., early bird games start at 5:45 p.m. and regular bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. They play 15 games and also have flash and Cherrybells available for sale. Buy in is a two pack for $30, extra packs are $5 and early birds are $5.

First Wednesday

Flower Lovers Meet
• The Flower Lovers meet from 12:15 to 2 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. This month features guest speaker Sharon McCray, a certified Master Gardener and regular contributor to the Morgan Hill Life. She will be speaking on how to propagate plants as well as providing a demonstration.

Morgan Hill Photography Club
• Monthly meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the Morgan Hill Community Recreational Center multipurpose room, 171 W. Edmundson Ave. Meet local photographers, share your photos, and improve your photography skills. Guests are always welcome. Running Group, Club Run

Morning Bike Ride
• Weekly co-ed, no-drop ride averaging 25 miles. Meet at Bike Therapy, 17540 Depot St. at 7:30 a.m. in Morgan Hill. Road bike and drop handlebars required.

Farmers’ Market
• The Morgan Hill Certified Farmers’ Market brings together farmers, food producers and consumers from Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and Hollister from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Third and Depot streets. A family-friendly Kids Craft is included with fun educational projects to delight all ages. Parking is available at the Caltrain depot, accessed via Butterfield Boulevard.

Tour Morgan Hill Museum
• The Morgan Hill Museum and Hiram Morgan Hill House are open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with docents giving tours. Learn about the city’s history and see some new additions to the museum. The Villa Mira Monte grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, where visitors can enjoy the Centennial History Trail and the rose garden at leisure.

Book Reading
• Join others at the Morgan Hill Library Program Room for a Zoom reading and Q&A from 4 to 5 p.m. with Dorothy Lazard, former Oakland librarian and public historian. Lazard received the 2023 Oscar Lewis Award for contributions to Western History from the Book Club of California and the Partners in Preservation Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022 from the Oakland Heritage Alliance. A drawing will be held after the program for a copy of. Lazard’s new memoir “What You Don’t Know Will Make a Whole New World.” Details: friendsmhlibrary.org.

Fall Concert
• The Martin Murphy and Ann Sobrato Band Programs present a Fall Concert in the Ann Sobrato High School gymnasium, 401 Burnett Ave. Martin Murphy’s concert is at 6 p.m., Sobrato’s at 7 p.m.

Oct. 20

Halloween Decorating Contest
• The Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation invites the community to a new, spooky tradition. Get creative as you out “boo” your neighbors for the ultimate Halloween home decorating bragging rights. Judging takes place after sunset Oct. 23 and 24 with the free entry deadline Oct. 20. Entries will be judged on: Most Creative, Best Use of Effects, and Scariest Décor. MH Open Studios

Bat Fest!
• Join Saved By Nature for an evening festival celebrating local animals of the night, with live bats, owls, and other creatures from 4 to 9 p.m. in the meadow at Rancho Canada del Oro Open Space Preserve, 4289 Casa Loma Road, Morgan Hill. It’s a fun time under the stars with a special guest speaker, food trucks, live music, festival games, arts and crafts, mini-pumpkin patch, REI lounge and booths from community partner organizations. Bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy popcorn, cotton candy and your favorite drink while watching a movie under the night sky. Enter the silent auction for a guided fly-fishing trip, a three-night stay in a cabin, and artwork by local artists. Purchase raffle tickets for camping gear, equipment and gift cards from REI, Los Gatos Bird Watchers, Bass Pro Shop and more. Flash Mob
• Spooktacular Halloween (Flash Mob) takes place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Magical Bridge Playground with rehearsals at 7 p.m. Oct. 19. All ages, all abilities, all welcome. Learn the dance steps of the Flash Mob for Thriller, Ghostbusters, and Addams Family, and be part of the fun! Special activities include face painting, balloon animals, art project, talent show, family Flash Mob, and parade. Flash Mob times are 3:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Parade time is 5 p.m.

Marching Band Competition
• The Gilroy Unified Marching Band will host a regional competition at the Gilroy High School Football Field, 750 W. 10th St., from 1:55 to 10 p.m. Attendees will enjoy watching bands of all skill levels performing field shows which they have been working on during the summer from 20-plus different high schools. Field shows consist of bands from schools with 20 band members to 100-plus. The stories told through the musicians and visual aids appeal to all ages. Attendees will have access to food trucks, a snack shack. Tickets available at garliccityclassic.brownpapertickets.com and programs will be sold at the door. Oct. 24

Panel Discussion
• The AAUW and the Robin Shepherd, Susan and Charles Berghoff Foundation are collaborating on a presentation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The theme is “Brain Health & Dementia: What Every Family Needs to Know.” This event focuses on basic information about the causes, risk factors and challenges of dementia for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Panelists will discuss ways to reduce risk of dementia with a “healthy brain” lifestyle, and where to turn for resources and support if dementia becomes a reality in their families. It’s a hybrid event hosted by the MH Library ( in-person event with option to attend on Zoom ). Format is a moderated panel discussion with Q&A time.

Chat With the Superintendent
• Get to know Dr. Carmen Garcia, superintendent of the Morgan Hill Unified School District during a chat from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at Peet’s Coffee, 765 Cochrane Road.

Oct. 28

Kidz Fest & Trick-or-Treat
• The details are still being fine-tuned, but it will include Halloween-inspired activities, a kids’ area with outdoor games, and a lounge area with picnic tables and outdoor seating.
10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Event Activities
2 p.m. – 4 p.m. Safe Trick-or-Treat
8 p.m. – 10 p.m. Free Outdoor Movie Featuring “Addams Family” on E. 3rd Street. Bring a lawn chair and blanket. Businesses or nonprofits, interested in handing out candy, contact the downtown association. Vendor information is available and applications are due by Oct. 20.

Mattress Sale Fundraiser
• The Sobrato High School and Martin Murphy Middle Schools extracurricular band programs fundraiser will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the high school, 401 Burnett Ave. Twins from $199, full from $229, queen from $299 and king from $399. Delivery available and all forms of payment accepted; financing available. Every purchase benefits the music department.
