Want to get the kids out of the house and involved in drama? Then, the Willy Wonka Theatrical Summer Camp may be the golden ticket. From July 7 to 11, kids will audition, accept roles, learn scripts and music and finally perform “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.” There will be a free performance at the Morgan Hill Playhouse with sets, props and costumes at 3 p.m. Friday July 11. The cost for the week is $150. For more information, email Carol at [email protected].

Jennifer Scheer, the executive director at the Santa Clara County Farm Bureau, is leaving for greener pastures. Literally. Scheer, who already has a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business from Chico State University, is heading to U.C. Davis to get a Master’s degree in agricultural and resource economics. The Santa Clara Valley Water District board will honor her with a proclamation at its June 24 meeting. The 29-year-old fourth-generation farmer’s last day is June 27. Congratulations Jennifer, and thanks for all you did the past four years.
