More than 200 clients and staff joined together on March 10 at Willow Heights Mansion in Morgan Hill to celebrate RNP Advisory Services’ 45 year Legacy, marking nearly five decades of the firm’s genuine commitment to multiple generations of clients and their dedication to giving back to the community.
“Every one of us loves what we do and we love our community. We are fortunate to come to work every day and focus on enhancing the lives of our clients, and serving the community is a natural extension of what is already in our hearts, continues RNP President Tracy Newquist, ”this celebration is not about RNP’s success, it’s about the legacy and success of our clients.”
The firm highlighted the significance of celebrating at their 45 year milestone because 2016 also marks 10 years since co-founders Carl H. Reinhardt, ChFC and Gary Newquist, CFP® merged their respective family run practices to form RNP. Firmly rooted in Morgan Hill, and now in its second generation, the company’s origin sprung 45 years ago from the deep passion of these two men to provide exceptional financial planning and investment advice to their clients and help guide them financially to reach life goals. Both visionaries recognized early on the value of creating personalized financial plans for their clients that are built on a solid foundation with the client’s best interests first. In the words of RNP Chairman, Carl Reinhardt, “To me it’s quite simple, I’ve always believed that clients should be better off today than when we first met them.”
Gary Newquist shares that sentiment, “It’s about doing the right thing for our clients, not us. We have a responsibility, a very important responsibility, and we take that very seriously.” Now retired, Gary moved his family and financial planning practice to Morgan Hill in 1971 and was in the second graduating class of the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, earning his Certified Financial Planner designation (CFP®) in 1974. He went on to lead the Santa Clara Chapter of the International Association of Financial Planners as President. Carl, a pioneer in fee-only financial planning, lead the chapter as president in 1984, and went on to serve as a director at the state and national levels. What was once just an industry, was becoming a profession with accountability, compliance, and strict guidelines to protect clients from being taken advantage of. And now it is about guiding the client to first identify their goals, then charting a path to reach those goals – not only in this generation, but in those to come. It’s about living and leaving your legacy.
Our clients have told us that “RNP” stands for “Really Nice People,” stated Dan Newquist, CFP®, Principal Partner and Senior Advisor. “We actually credit our clients as being the Really Nice People and we enjoy it when they stop by just to say hello or have a cup of coffee. Being in close contact with our clients is one of the most important pieces of what we do, and we are most proud of the fact that most of our clients have become our long term friends,” Newquist continued. Many of the clients attending the celebration have been with the firm for over 40 years, and second and third generations of their family are clients as well. These long-term relationships are the heart and soul of RNP.
Operating based on the principles it was founded upon – integrity, community and excellence – RNP is equally focused on improving the communities where they serve, live and work. They are philanthropic and generous community leaders with a sincere passion to truly better the lives of others. Gary, recognized as Morgan Hill Citizen of the Year in 1994, was the driving force behind the Pathway Society Youth Drug Abuse program in Morgan Hill and an active Rotarian. Carl recalls living in Morgan Hill for 14 years and knowing nobody in town because he commuted to his office in San Jose and traveled extensively as he built his firm nationally. This all changed when Carl joined the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill because he wanted to participate and give back in the community where he lived. Through Rotary, Carl connected with Dan and Gary, and in 2006 they merged their firms to form RNP and begin what would turn out to be “an enriching life of service to Morgan Hill with local friends and mentors such as George Chiala, the Guglielmo family, Bob and Del Foster and Mike Beasley.” The firm is active in supporting and volunteering for many organizations such as Rotary, South Valley Symphony, Community Solutions, Charter School of Morgan Hill, South County Catholic High School, Morgan Hill AAUW, Rebekah Children’s Services, and many others.
A rich history, strong client relationships and community service are not all that make RNP stand out among fellow financial planning firms. In a traditionally male dominated industry, RNP is led by President, Tracy Newquist, who is surrounded by a professional team of financial advisors and staff. Each advisor specializes in their own areas of expertise, bringing together a well-rounded team approach to maximize results for their clients. The greatest testament to the success of any business is the voice of those it serves. In 2015, Dan Newquist was voted Morgan Hill’s “Best Financial Advisor/Planner.”
RNP Advisory Services wishes to thank its clients and local community for their trust, loyalty, and for shaping the firm’s legacy.
