The Morgan Hill Police Officer Association Charitable Foundation will take at-need local children on a “Shop with a Cop” Target store shopping spree during the holidays. Its annual Charity Golf Tournament at Coyote Creek Golf Course Oct. 23 will raise money for this community cause.
“The plan is to have each of our (kindergarten through 8th grade) Morgan Hill schools pick several children, whether it be need based or contest based, to join us for this event,” said Sgt. Carlos Guerrero with the Morgan Hill Police Department.
Each chosen child will receive a $100 gift card for a store such as Target or Walmart and will be accompanied by one MHPD police officer while they shop, he said.
There will be some restrictions on the shopping. The officer’s job will be to assist the child in making good choices and staying within budget.
“The MHPOA Charitable Foundation has been involved in giving back to our community for years,” Guerrero said. “Giving to children has always been the most rewarding experience for us. There is no better feeling than to see a smile on a child’s face during the holidays.”
The 4th Annual “Fall Classic” Tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 23 at the Coyote Creek Golf Club located at 1 Coyote Creek Drive, San Jose. Check-in begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Pro Shop and Shotgun Scramble start time is noon. The registration fee of $150 includes green fee, cart, a small bucket of range balls, box lunch and buffet dinner.
