My name is Kevin Jensen, and I would like to be your Santa Clara County Sheriff. I remember the pride of my first uniform and the humility of the responsibility given to me by the people I was sworn to serve. Law enforcement is tarnished when we forget that we serve the public. I have not forgotten that we serve you.
Living out my values, on and off duty, (integrity, fairness, and respect for all), has earned me the trust and overwhelming endorsements of more than 90 percent of voting Santa Clara County Deputy Sheriffs’ and 100 percent of the Correctional Peace Officers Associations (the first non-incumbent endorsement in decades). I am also endorsed by nearly all police and law enforcement associations in and around our county, by PORAC, a federation of more than 900 California Public Safety Associations. I have support from community leaders in business, education, civil and victims’ rights, including Crime Victims United of California and Marc Klaas who has tirelessly aided the families of missing and murdered children since the abduction and murder of his own daughter Polly, many years ago.
I am a retired captain of 28 years, I have a MA in Leadership, BA in Management and I am a graduate of the FBI National Academy. We must be smart on crime; prevention, education, and proactive policing should be the tools we use and minimize the need to simply react and respond. Let’s build a robust and thriving Community Services Unit that will educate our youth about the dangers of drugs and alcohol, gangs, bullying, and other negative influences, and our seniors and other residents about fraud, cyber-crime, personal and residential safety and other issues. I will restore ethics and accountability, implement innovative best practices of state and national partners and provide transparency and inclusion in decision-making.
