John Lang worked in economic development department for city of San Jose for 16 years

The city of Morgan Hill has hired John Lang, San Jose’s chief economist, to join the city’s economic development team. Lang has worked in economic development for 16 years with the city of San Jose, playing a role in conducting cost benefit analysis of development projects, assisting with data analytics, lead researcher for the city’s two economic strategies and helping with revenue forecasts.

He also managed San Jose’s State of California Enterprise Zone Program, State of California Innovation Hub Program, the city’s Business Cooperation Program and a $1.2 million clean-tech career fund.

Lang also assisted businesses through the development entitlement process and developed key partnerships with San Jose Public Library and SCORE to support small businesses.

Lang holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics as well as Master’s degrees in Economics and Public Administration, all from San Jose State University. Among other things, Lang will lead the city of Morgan Hill’s Economic Development Blueprint and assist with the minimum wage analysis.
