GARAGE-RIBBON-CUTTING-06231Mayor Steve Tate joined fellow city council members Rich Constantine, Larry Carr, Marilyn Librers and Gordon Siebert, along with Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce staff and ambassadors, city of Morgan Hill staff and others at the ribbon cutting for the new downtown parking garage June 23.

The recently opened garage will provide much needed parking for downtown shoppers, said Rosy Bergin, owner of Rosy’s at the Beach restaurant. The $25 million public investment the city made that includes the garage and the infrastructure improvements downtown helped spur an additional $50 million in private development that started with the renovation of the Granada Theater and includes four new restaurants on the corner of Third Street and Monterey Road, a new multi-use development at the corner of Second Street and Monterey Road, a mixed-use project at the former BookSmart location and Frank Léal’s new 60-room hotel, marketplace and restaurant at the corner of First Street and Monterey Road.
