Two grants totaling $20,000 were presented to the Centennial Recreation Senior Center from the Friends of the Morgan Hill Senior Center Oct. 24.
The grants are made possible through the net proceeds from the Tuesday Night Bingo which has been ongoing since Jan. 3, 2012.
The first $10,000 grant is a restricted grant to be applied toward funding the full-time senior case worker in the South County. While this was the only grant requested, there was enough money available and the group decided to grant another $10,000 to be placed in the Morgan Hill Senior Support Endowment Fund, which resides at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. SVCF has more than $5 billion in assets under professional management.
This grant will make more than $48,000 in grants made by the FMHSC to the senior center since 2012. There are more than 40 volunteers who work hard to make this happen, said volunteer Cricket Rubino.
