Andrea Brianchi and her horse

Local resident Andrea Bianchi will share her new children’s book “If Wishes Were Horses” at a book signing 4 p.m. Thursday, April 4, at BookSmart. See the Q&A story we did with her online at www.morganhilllife.com/2019/03/18/local-author-andrea-bianchi-will-share-new-childrens-book-about-horses-at-booksmart-4-p-m-april-4/

Bianchi grew up in Morgan Hill and went to St Catherine’s Elementary School and graduated from Live Oak High school in 1997. The book is about her first horse, Mika.

“My mom gave me Mika, an 11-year-old flea-bitten grey Arabian Gelding, in November 1991,” she said. “I’m sure it finally put an end to me asking for a horse every morning at breakfast. All I knew is that I loved horses. I had no idea that Mika wo)uld teach me so much about life, love, hard work, friendship and success.”

Mika was known around town because she would ride him everywhere, usually bareback and with no helmet and in sandals.

“I rode Mika to Live Oak High School. There, I would run him down the old dirt track — I’m sure my mom would get phone calls about that,” she said.
